fabrilogy™ · Sustainability
What does eco. mean?
Not every sustainable fabric carries a GOTS or OEKO-TEX label. eco. is our own label for fibres that fall outside these standards – yet still deliver a convincing environmental footprint.
Definition & Background
What is eco. at fabrilogy™?
GOTS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 are well-established external standards – GOTS for organic cotton with full supply-chain traceability, OEKO-TEX for tested freedom from harmful substances. Both are valuable. But they do not cover all environmentally responsible fibres.
Fibres such as TENCEL™, ECOVERO™ or recycled materials meet the highest ecological requirements – but as man-made fibres they are structurally ineligible for GOTS. Without our own point of reference, these fabrics would remain invisible in the shop.
eco. is our answer: an internal label we assign ourselves – transparently, without claiming external accreditation. It signals that these fabrics are produced responsibly and that we stand behind that claim.
Our basis is manufacturer documentation and fibre credentials from producers such as Lenzing™, as well as recognised industry standards like the GRS (Global Recycled Standard). eco. is not an official quality seal – it is our commitment.
"Not every eco-friendly fibre has an official label. eco. makes visible what would otherwise go unnoticed."
fabrilogy™ · Product Philosophy
Which fabrics carry the label
The fibres behind eco.
We assign the eco. label exclusively to fabrics whose fibres meet one or more of the following criteria:
TENCEL™ Lyocell
A man-made cellulosic fibre from sustainably managed wood. Produced in a closed-loop solvent process with a recovery rate of over 99 %. Not GOTS-eligible as a man-made fibre – yet biodegradable and outstanding in its environmental profile.
Lenzing™ verified
TENCEL™ Modal
A soft man-made fibre from Austrian beechwood. Exceptionally water-efficient – up to ten times more so than conventional cotton. Not GOTS-eligible as a man-made fibre, but with a compelling ecological footprint.
Lenzing™ verified
Recycled Fibres
Fabrics made from GRS-verified recycled fibres, for example from post-consumer textile waste or recycled PET bottles. Recycled natural fibres may partly qualify for GOTS – recycled man-made fibres such as rPET do not.
GRS Standard
ECOVERO™ Viscose
A man-made fibre by Lenzing from sustainable wood sources – with a verified CO₂ footprint up to 50 % lower than generic viscose. Not GOTS-eligible as a man-made fibre, but with documented origin and environmental credentials.
Lenzing™ verified
Linen & Natural Fibres
Naturally renewable fibres grown without synthetic fertilisers. Biodegradable and climate-friendly during cultivation. Ideal for natural material cycles.
Natural Fibre
Muslin & Blended Fabrics
Muslins and blended fabrics from eco.-qualified fibres with documented origin. Assessed on overall environmental footprint, taking processing into account.
Documented Origin
Overview
eco., GOTS & OEKO-TEX at a glance
The three labels complement each other – they are not competitors. GOTS and OEKO-TEX are externally accredited standards. eco. is our own internal label for what those standards do not cover.

Our Approach
Why eco. – our responsibility
Sustainability cannot be reduced to a single label. We want to make all fabrics with a convincing environmental footprint visible – including those for which no official quality seal exists. That is the core of eco.
01
Honesty over image
eco. is not an external award – and we say so clearly. We would rather communicate transparently than create false expectations through silence.
02
Verifiable basis
We assign eco. only where the origin and environmental footprint of the fibre are traceable. We do not carry out formal testing for harmful substances – and we communicate that openly.
03
Continuous review
Our assessment criteria are updated regularly – adapted to new scientific findings and developments within the industry.
04
Sustainability in operations
Heat pump system, electric forklifts, recyclable packaging, paperless accounting: our commitment extends well beyond the fabric itself.
